PART 2 -Umahi Defends Tinubu Over Bad Roads: Is Government Shifting Blame to Contractors?

David Umahi is facing growing scrutiny over Nigeria’s worsening road conditions, after the Works Minister blamed contractors for failures on major federal highways while defending the Tinubu administration’s efforts to fix the country’s infrastructure.

The controversy has intensified following the poor condition of the Benin-Agbor-Asaba road, where Umahi criticised the concessionaire and ordered steps towards ending the contract. President Bola Tinubu has also ordered the redesign and total reconstruction of the road and other major highways in Edo State.

But the political question remains: Can the government continue blaming contractors when Nigerians are the ones suffering the consequences of failed roads?
