Vice-President Kashim Shettima has revealed what he considers a major concern for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election: internal divisions within the ruling party.
Speaking in Abuja on October 17, 2026, at the unveiling of the campaign headquarters of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a coalition supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, Shettima said internal disagreements within the APC worried him more than opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.
Shettima urged APC members to unite behind Tinubu, party governors and National Assembly members. He also warned political leaders against supporting the presidential ticket while undermining APC candidates contesting governorship elections in their states.
His comments raise questions about the internal challenges facing the ruling party as political activities intensify ahead of 2027. Can the APC resolve its internal disagreements and maintain unity, or could divisions within its ranks become a major issue in the coming election?
