Descriptions:
Former Osun State Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji were absent as Governor Ademola Adeleke inaugurated a 344-member campaign council for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid in Osun State.
The inauguration, held in Osogbo on Thursday, October 22, brought together political figures from the APC, PDP and Accord Party. Former Governor Bisi Akande, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru and former party National Secretary Iyiola Omisore were among those who attended.
The absence of Oyetola, Oyebamiji and other prominent APC figures has raised questions about the coordination of Tinubu’s campaign in Osun, particularly after the state APC leadership complained that it had not been adequately informed about the inauguration arrangements.
However, an APC representative suggested that some of those absent might not have been aware of the event. Their absence alone does not establish opposition to Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Governor Adeleke said the council would mobilise support for Tinubu, with an ambitious vote target for the 2027 presidential election.
Why were key APC figures absent from the inauguration? Is this a scheduling and communication problem, or does it point to wider disagreements over the management of Tinubu’s campaign in Osun?
