Descriptions:

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that opposition leader Atiku Abubakar will struggle to repeat his 2023 victory in Kaduna State, insisting that the political situation has changed under Governor Uba Sani.

The party’s publicity secretary, Mohammed Sani Haruna, blamed the APC’s poor performance in Kaduna during the 2023 presidential election on the administration of former governor Nasir El-Rufai. He alleged that policies including the demolition of homes and markets, the dismissal of workers, and the handling of religious and ethnic differences alienated voters.

Haruna argued that Governor Uba Sani’s more inclusive approach has strengthened the APC’s support base across the state. He also claimed that the party now controls all elective positions in Kaduna and expressed confidence that it could mobilise two million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential contest. Atiku, who won Kaduna State in the 2023 presidential election, remains an opposition contender, while the APC is seeking to consolidate its position across the state.

But can the APC’s confidence translate into votes? Will voters judge the parties by their current promises, their previous records, or the issues affecting their daily lives?
