Take Me as Interim President- Sowore offers Self

Sowore has offered himself as Nigeria’s “interim president” while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are away on foreign trips.

Speaking at a press conference, Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), mocked the absence of the country’s two highest political office holders, saying Nigerians should treat him as the “interim president” while they are away.

Sowore argued that the bigger issue is not simply where Tinubu and Shettima are, but what the government is doing for Nigerians when they are actually in the country. He accused the administration of failing to adequately address economic hardship, poor healthcare and other challenges facing citizens.

He also criticised the President’s foreign travels, contrasting the ability of political leaders to travel abroad with the struggles of ordinary Nigerians who cannot afford basic necessities or access quality healthcare.
