A major legal development has shaken Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections. A Federal High Court in Lokoja has set aside its earlier judgment that compelled the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political party.
The court ruled that all necessary parties must be joined and heard before a final decision can be made, ordering that the case begin afresh. The ruling followed an application by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which argued that its interests were affected by the earlier judgment.
